The Team:
You will be joining a global technology team of around 70 engineers supporting Bank of America's Structured Notes business, with key hubs in London, New York, Singapore, and Mumbai. The programme is led from London, giving this role a central position in shaping the direction and delivery of a highly strategic platform. The team works closely with stakeholders across trading, structuring, sales, and operations, providing strong exposure to both front office and senior technology leadership.
This is an established team working on a platform that has been in development for approximately three years, with a clear mandate to build and evolve a next-generation structured notes issuance platform to support significant business growth. The focus now is on scaling, enhancing capability, and driving modern engineering practices across a complex, business-critical ecosystem.

Role Description:
Due to continued investment in our Global Markets technology platform, we are seeking a Lead Software Engineer (Director level) to join our London-based Structured Notes technology team. This is a key leadership role responsible for driving the design and delivery of our next-generation structured notes issuance platform, supporting a rapidly growing and high-value business area. You will lead a team of 15 engineers, shaping the architecture and development of core platform components using modern technologies including Python, Java, React, MongoDB, OpenShift, and Camunda. The role offers the opportunity to work on complex, business-critical systems with high visibility across trading, structuring, and operations. This is an exciting position for a hands-on technical leader who wants to combine people leadership with deep engineering impact in a fast-paced markets environment.
Responsibilities:
+ Lead and develop a team of ~15 engineers, driving delivery, performance, and technical excellence
+ Own the architecture and design of the structured notes issuance platform, ensuring scalability and resilience
+ Deliver high-quality, business-critical functionality aligned to front office and operational requirements
+ Act as a hands-on technical leader across Python, Java, React, MongoDB, OpenShift, and Camunda
+ Define and enforce engineering standards, best practices, and development processes
+ Partner with global stakeholders to translate complex business needs into scalable solutions
+ Collaborate across global teams to ensure aligned, consistent platform delivery
+ Drive continuous improvement through modern engineering practices, automation, and DevOps principles
What we are looking for:
+ Strong experience leading and developing engineering teams, with the ability to drive delivery and foster a high-performance culture
+ Solid technical background with hands-on experience in modern software development (e.g. Python, Java, microservices, cloud-native technologies)
+ Proven ability to design and deliver scalable, resilient platforms within complex, business-critical environments
+ Strong stakeholder management skills, with the capability to work closely with front office and global teams to translate business needs into technology solutions
Skills that will help:
+ Experience within Global Markets or knowledge of structured products / structured notes
+ Familiarity with workflow orchestration tools (e.g. Camunda) or event-driven architectures
+ Exposure to containerisation and cloud platforms (e.g. OpenShift, Kubernetes)
