Overview
Auburn University Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) Lab is seeking a motivated and skilled Student Software Developer. This position is ideal for undergraduate students who are passionate and proficient in software development and are looking to apply their skills in a dynamic research environment. The role involves developing and maintaining web-based applications that support our lab's research activities, utilizing technology to streamline and optimize processes, reduce manual effort, and improve efficiency for the teams throughout the RFID Lab.
Responsibilities
+ Develop and maintain applications for data management, visualization, and research collaboration.
+ Work closely with researchers to understand their software requirements and provide technical solutions.
+ Participate in the design, testing, and deployment of new software features.
+ Assist in the integration of computational tools and databases.
+ Document and maintain software functionality.
+ Ensure the robustness and reliability of web applications.
+ Perform data collection and data analysis to investigate the performance of large-scale RFID deployments.
+ Responsible for creating reports for data presentation and customer communication.
+ Responsible for evaluating the performance of RFID systems in retail stores and standard lab test environments.
+ Responsible for operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting RF test equipment.
Qualifications
+ Enrolled student at Auburn University
+ Strong programming skills with experience in application development (HTML, CSS, JavaScript/TypeScript, Java, C#).
+ Experience working with web applications, and or frameworks (NextJS, Remix, Vite/React) - Experience with Kubernetes
+ Experience working with databases (SQL, NoSQL)
+ Currently enrolled as an Auburn University undergraduate student.
+ Majoring in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
+ Must have reliable transportation.
+ Must have 20 hour per week availablity for summer 2026 and 15 - 20 hour per week availability for fall 2026
