We are currently looking for an experienced Senior Systems & Virtualization Engineer to join our team in Madrid.
Overview of the Role
The Senior Systems & Virtualization Engineer is responsible for the advanced management and optimization of Windows and Linux platforms within a VMware ESXi environment. This critical role ensures the stability, resilience, and scalability of enterprise systems, directly impacting the business’s operational continuity and transformation initiatives.
Detailed Responsibilities
- Take L3 ownership for Windows and Linux platforms running in VMware ESXi environments.
- Provide deep technical expertise in VMware ESXi and vCenter, focusing on capacity and performance management.
- Manage HPE and Dell server platforms, including firmware updates, lifecycle management, and troubleshooting.
- Lead the resolution of complex incidents, conduct thorough root‑cause analysis, and implement platform improvements.
- Support resilience and disaster recovery (DR) readiness initiatives, ensuring robust business continuity.
- Participate in infrastructure transformation projects to modernize and optimize system platforms.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to align IT operations with business objectives.
- Deliver documentation and knowledge transfer for operational best practices.
Skill Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
- Minimum 5 years’ hands‑on experience managing Windows and Linux servers in enterprise environments.
- Advanced expertise in VMware ESXi, vCenter, and virtualization technologies.
- Strong familiarity with HPE and Dell server hardware (firmware, lifecycle, troubleshooting).
- Proven track record in incident management, root‑cause analysis, and platform improvement.
- Knowledge of resilience and disaster recovery strategies.
- Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
- Relevant certifications such as VMware Certified Professional (VCP), Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE), or Linux certifications are highly desirable.
Nice to Have
- Experience with automation tools (PowerShell, Ansible, etc.) for infrastructure management.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud).
- Exposure to ITIL best practices and service management frameworks.
- Ability to mentor junior engineers and contribute to knowledge sharing.
