The Role
We are looking for a Tech Lead to define how Flamus is built at scale. This is a role for someone who thinks in systems, not features. You will lead the evolution of our architecture across backend, web, and infrastructure, ensuring that performance, type safety, and developer experience are part of every decision. This is not about maintaining a system. It’s about shaping one.
What You’ll Own
- The technical direction across services, web, and infrastructure
- Architectural decisions across a multi-service, multi-repo system
- The standards for how we write, test, and ship code
- The evolution of our backend, real-time systems, and data layer
You won’t just contribute to the system. You will define how it evolves.
Core Stack
We work with a modern, performance-oriented stack:
- Runtime: Bun + TypeScript
- Frontend: Next.js (App Router, Server Components)
- Backend: ElysiaJS + Eden Treaty (end-to-end type safety)
- Database: PostgreSQL (Neon) + Drizzle ORM
- Cache & Real-time: Redis (queues, streams, presence)
- Auth: Better-Auth (roles, sessions, KYC)
Architecture & Systems
- Microservices architecture across file, discovery, chat, notify, fiat, and more
- Monorepo with Git submodules and independent versioning
- Real-time systems (chat, presence, streams)
- Media pipelines (upload, processing, streaming)
Cloud & Infrastructure
- AWS with Infrastructure as Code (CDK)
- EC2, Amplify, and supporting services
- Docker for local environments
- CI/CD with GitHub Actions (dev → staging → main)
- Secrets management (1Password → GitHub)
- Observability with OpenTelemetry + Axiom
Engineering Quality
- Strong testing culture (unit with Bun, E2E with Playwright)
- Code quality via Biome and CI gates
- Consistent commit conventions and workflows
Who You Are
- You have led technical architecture across complex systems
- You are fluent in TypeScript and care deeply about type safety
- You are comfortable working across backend, frontend, and infrastructure
- You think in systems, not isolated services
- You are hands-on and still enjoy writing code
- You mentor engineers and raise the quality bar of the team
Nice to Have
- Experience with Bun or high-performance runtimes
- Experience with real-time systems and event-driven architectures
- Familiarity with Rust (desktop / Tauri context)
- Experience with creator platforms, monetization, or payments
- Experience with internationalized products
How You’ll Lead
- Define architectural standards across repositories
- Review and guide technical decisions across teams
- Mentor engineers with a focus on performance and type safety
- Coordinate releases and system evolution
