We are seeking a Senior Technical Lead / Senior Developer (API & Refactoring Lead) to join our team.

This role will involve leading the modernization of legacy Java applications by designing API wrapper layers, implementing integration adaptors, defining scalable architectures, and guiding development teams through enterprise application transformation. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, legacy modernization, API governance, enterprise integrations, technical leadership, and software architecture, with a passion for delivering scalable and maintainable enterprise solutions.

Job Description Senior Technical Lead / Senior Developer (API & Refactoring Lead)

We are looking for an experienced Senior Technical Lead / Senior Developer (API & Refactoring Lead) to lead the refactoring and modernization of a legacy Java-based enterprise application. The Senior Technical Lead / Senior Developer (API & Refactoring Lead) will design API wrapper layers, integration adaptors, and modular service boundaries while preserving existing business logic and minimizing disruption to production deployments.

The Senior Technical Lead / Senior Developer (API & Refactoring Lead) will provide architectural leadership, mentor development teams, establish API governance, and collaborate with business stakeholders to ensure successful modernization initiatives. This role requires strong expertise in Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, enterprise integrations, legacy application modernization, and technical leadership.

The Senior Technical Lead / Senior Developer (API & Refactoring Lead) will also guide teams through API enablement strategies, incremental refactoring, testing, deployment, and enterprise integration patterns while ensuring long-term platform scalability and maintainability.

Responsibilities Architecture & Design
  • Define and implement API wrapper strategies using REST controllers over existing services.
  • Design integration patterns using adapters and connectors for enterprise systems.
  • Establish stable API contracts to decouple UI, business, and integration layers.
  • Lead enterprise application architecture decisions.
  • Ensure scalable and maintainable solution design.
Development Leadership
  • Lead development of API wrapper layers.
  • Develop integration services and enterprise adaptors.
  • Guide teams on Spring-based architecture (Controller Service Repository).
  • Expose reusable business services.
  • Provide technical leadership throughout the development lifecycle.
Refactoring & Modernization
  • Identify high-risk legacy application modules.
  • Refactor applications incrementally without rewriting business logic.
  • Introduce DTO mappings and API contracts.
  • Implement validation frameworks.
  • Improve modularity and maintainability of legacy applications.
Integration & API Management
  • Develop JSON-based REST APIs.
  • Build enterprise integration flows.
  • Work with API gateways and API management platforms.
  • Implement authentication and SSO/Identity Provider integrations.
  • Support downstream system connectivity.
Quality & Governance
  • Define coding standards and API governance policies.
  • Establish API versioning strategies.
  • Ensure unit and integration testing coverage.
  • Support SIT, UAT, and production defect resolution.
  • Promote engineering best practices.
Stakeholder Engagement
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders and integration teams.
  • Coordinate with downstream application teams.
  • Provide technical recommendations for solution roadmaps.
  • Support project planning and estimation.
  • Participate in architecture reviews and technical discussions.
Required Qualifications Experience
  • 10 15+ years of experience in enterprise software development.
  • 3 5+ years of experience in technical leadership and solution architecture.
  • Strong experience in legacy application modernization and API enablement.
  • Experience leading enterprise Java modernization initiatives.
