Technical Program Manager
A technical product manager (TPM) is a strategic leader with a strong technical background. A TPM is able to develop a strategic vision, create a roadmap, and define priorities for a capability platform. A TPM works closely with the engineering team and understands the company's technology at a deep level. TPMs are able to interact with the development team as well as the most senior leaders in the organization. They act as the glue between the business side and technical side of an organization.
Strategic Focus
Defines strategy, creates roadmap for platform and identifies opportunities for success; assesses technology trends. Assesses and makes recommendations on which new technologies to invest in or leverage. Understands competitor technological capabilities and works to create advantage for ETS.
Requirements & Prioritization
Focuses on common platforms needed to support products and capabilities. Understands internal customer needs and translates them into requirements. Understands technology trends in the market. Makes decisions and trade-offs between technology & platform features.
Execution (Day-to-Day)
Actively influences teams and leadership for common adoption and use of platforms. Monitors platform operations and progress against roadmap. Collaborates with internal technology teams like engineering and development. Understands and analyzes data pipelines, algorithms, and automated systems. Uses database queries to analyze performance indicators, platform issues, etc.
Communication
Provides technology strategic vision / roadmap to division leads and governance committees. Works effectively with internal teams, including developers, engineers, architects, quality, and operations. Ensures requirements are fully understood and that implementation plans meet expectations. Answers incoming questions about the technology capabilities, and serves as a technology.
