Processing Associate
UGM Thrift Stores specialize in reselling, reusing, and recycling slightly used donated clothing, furniture, and household items. The Processing Associate works to process donations from donors to retail. This includes, but is not limited to, accepting, sorting and pricing donated items. This includes but is not limited to compliance with company policies and standards, procedures, and the UGM Mission Statement.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Able to daily perform any of the required job duties within the processing team. This includes all requirements related to accepting donations, presorting and pricing merchandise.
- Welcome donors in a timely manner in a way that they feel confident that UGM Thrift Stores appreciates them and understands their value.
- Handle the receiving and donation process with the utmost respect and care including, greeting the donor, assisting in unloading donations, telling the UGM story, repeating details back to donor and issuing a receipt.
- Recognize quality merchandise and effectively seek guidance on pricing from Processing Manager.
- Work with and effectively communicate with the Processing Manager, other processing employees and donors on a daily basis.
- Serve with fellow employees so that there is a healthy and productive work environment.
- Adhere to daily and weekly production goals.
- Produce quick and accurate work in a face-paced environment.
- Understand and comply with policies and procedures related to donated items, including prohibited items and pricing guides.

Working Conditions/Physical Factors:
- Use hands to perform required duties up to 100% of a standard workday.
- Lifting and bending up to 75% of a standard workday.
- Talk or hear As needed throughout a standard workday.
- Lifting up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
Equipment/Tools Used:
- Variety of tools used in the pricing and production process, i.e. pricing guns, steamers, z-racks, clothing racks and displays, forklift, carts, etc.
Education / Experience:
- High School diploma or GED required.
Daily Expectations:
- Check with the Processing Manager at the beginning of each shift.
- Be prepared to work in all areas of production.
- Use pricing guides daily.
- Communicate needs with Processing Managers to reach goals.
- Correctly input your processing numbers into Thrifttrac at the end of your shift
- Walk the sales floor once a week with the Processing Manager.
- Able and willing to train new employees or volunteers in your area when needed.
- Clock in and out using UKG
- Keep work area/stations clean.
- Follow all safety guidelines.
- Attend all daily huddles and sign up to host when available.
- Comply with all policies and procedures.
