Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Virtualization Engineer to design, implement, manage, and optimize virtualization infrastructure across the enterprise. The role requires deep expertise in VMware technologies and a comprehensive understanding of automation, scripting, and core infrastructure components including storage, networking, and security.
This role requires a collaborative mindset, strong communication skills, and the ability to work cross-functionally to deliver reliable, scalable virtual environments while driving best practices.
Key Responsibilities:
Design, deploy, and maintain VMware-based virtualization infrastructure (vSphere, ESXi, vCenter).
Manage and optimize virtual environments for performance, availability, and scalability.
Implement and maintain automation solutions using tools such as VMware Aria Automation and/or Aria Orchestrator.
Develop and maintain scripts for automation and operational efficiency.
Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to virtualization, storage, networking, and system performance.
Collaborate with infrastructure, networking, storage, and security teams on integrated solutions.
Participate in capacity planning, patching, upgrades, and lifecycle management.
Create and maintain technical documentation, standards, and runbooks.
Support disaster recovery and business continuity planning efforts.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree.
- Extensive hands-on experience with VMware technologies (vSphere, ESXi, vCenter).
- Strong understanding of virtualization concepts, high availability, and resource management.
- Solid knowledge of:
- o Storage systems (SAN/NAS, datastores, performance tuning)
- o Networking concepts (VLANs, switching, routing, load balancing)
- o Firewall and security principles
- Advanced troubleshooting skills across complex infrastructure layers.
- Demonstrated experience leading technical initiatives or projects.
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to quickly learn and apply enterprise AI tools and technologies to support technical workflows and business objectives.
Preferred / Nice-to-Have Qualifications
- Experience with VMware Aria Automation and/or Aria Orchestrator.
- Scripting and automation experience using: o PowerShell o JavaScript o YAML.
- Experience with monitoring and performance tools.
- Experience with Red Hat OpenShift Virtualization.
- Experience with other Hypervisors or Virtualization platforms Soft Skills & Competencies.
- Strong collaboration and teamwork abilities.
- Effective communication with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Proactive mindset with a focus on continuous improvement.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
Work Environment:
- This position may require some off-hour shifts for training purposes.
- Will require participation in on-call rotations and after-hours maintenance windows.
