Website Developer | WordPress, PHP, Front-End | Acquired Property Advice Platform with 3M Visits a Year

Salary: £35k-£42k

Location: Remote with occasional team meetings

Right to work: Must hold UK right to work

My client is the voice of homeowners in the UK, providing advice and resources to anyone buying or selling their home. You'll work on a team which is actively providing a public good within the property industry, working with an agile team of 5 which has accomplished annual website traffic of over 3 million, most of which is generated entirely organically.

You'd be working closely with the Head of Technology. This is a hands-on build role: roughly 60% front-end, the rest spanning back-end web development, content management and keeping a high-traffic WordPress platform secure, fast and commercially effective. You'll make changes yourself, solve problems directly and own the implementation, with support on the heavier infrastructure, hosting and security work.

The team is remote working, so you need to be someone who can plan your own work, set your own pace and get things shipped without being managed line by line.

What They're Looking For

  • WordPress administration, themes, templates and Advanced Custom Fields (ACF)
  • PHP, JavaScript and jQuery
  • Strong HTML and CSS, with front-end and back-end web development experience
  • A background in website building and marketing, not one or the other
  • Content management experience
  • Responsive, mobile-first development
  • Comfortable working independently and planning your own workload
  • Strong written and verbal communication

Nice to Haves

  • Lead handling experience and knowledge of the housing or property sector
  • Exposure to consumer comparison and property portals (price comparison sites, property listings platforms and similar)
  • Open Prophecy or similar data feed experience
  • Technical SEO, structured data and schema
  • A/B testing and conversion rate optimisation
  • Wordfence or similar security tooling
  • Accessibility auditing and WCAG
  • Experience with AI-powered tools, chatbots or emerging AI search

Why Join

Every front-end improvement, every form you sharpen, every page you make load faster has a direct line to revenue, and you'll see the effect. They've recently gone through an acquisition which means investment and ambition behind the site, with scope to build new tools, personalised journeys and AI-assisted experiences as the team grows. If you like working across the full stack of a real commercial website and want the autonomy to plan and ship your own work, this is a good fit.

If this sounds like your kind of role, apply and I'll give you a call to talk through the detail.
