Role Description This is a full-time, remote role for a Web Developer: WordPress & React Native for a client of The Marketing Poet. The person in this role will develop, maintain, and optimize WordPress websites, including custom themes, plugins, and integrations that align with client brand and performance goals. They will also build and support mobile applications using React Native, ensuring robust, user-friendly, and responsive experiences. Day-to-day responsibilities include translating design concepts into clean code, troubleshooting and debugging issues, implementing best practices for performance and security, and collaborating with designers, strategists, and account teams. The Web Developer will participate in code reviews, document technical decisions, and proactively suggest improvements to workflows, tools, and site/app architecture.
Qualifications
- Strong front-end development skills, including Web Development, Front-End Development, and Web Design, with an eye for responsive, accessible, and user-centered interfaces.
- Proficient programming capabilities, including Programming fundamentals and modern JavaScript frameworks (especially React/React Native) for building scalable web and mobile experiences.
- Back-End Web Development experience, including WordPress theme and plugin development, RESTful APIs, and database interactions.
- Hands-on experience configuring, customizing, and optimizing WordPress sites, including performance tuning, security best practices, and third-party integrations.
- Familiarity with version control (e.g., Git), modern build tools, and standard development workflows in a collaborative environment.
- Ability to work independently in a remote setting, manage multiple projects, and communicate clearly with non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience working in an agency, creative, or fast-paced digital environment is preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Nice to have
- Experience with Shopify or other e-commerce platforms
- Familiarity with API integrations (payment gateways, CRMs, third-party tools)
- Exposure to a creative/marketing agency environment where you're building for many different brands rather than one product
