About the Role
We are seeking a passionate and detail-oriented Word Press Developer Intern / IT Support Intern to join our team at Mervix Technology Pvt Ltd. This hybrid role offers hands-on experience in both Word Press development and IT support for US-based clients. You will work closely with senior developers, designers, and support engineers to build, customize, and maintain Word Press websites while also assisting clients with technical support and troubleshooting.
This internship is designed for candidates who are eager to gain practical experience in web development, website management, IT support operations, and client-facing technical communication. The position is open exclusively to candidates holding or currently pursuing a B. Tech / B. E. degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
Key Responsibilities Word Press Development
• Assist in the development, customization, and maintenance of Word Press websites and themes.
• Build and modify Word Press themes and plugins using PHP, HTML, CSS, and Java Script.
• Implement responsive and cross-browser-compatible designs from UI/UX mockups and wireframes.
• Integrate third-party plugins, APIs, and services into Word Press platforms.
• Perform website updates, content management, and routine performance optimizations.
• Troubleshoot and resolve bugs, layout issues, and plugin conflicts across websites.
• Assist with SEO best practices including meta tags, sitemaps, and page speed improvements.
• Collaborate with the design team to ensure visual consistency and brand alignment.
• Document development processes, plugin configurations, and technical notes.
• Participate in team meetings, code reviews, and sprint planning sessions.
IT Support
• Provide first-level IT support to US-based clients through email, chat, ticketing systems, and remote support tools.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to desktops, laptops, printers, operating systems, software applications, and peripherals.
• Assist users with Microsoft 365, Outlook, Teams, VPN connectivity, password resets, and account access management.
• Support the setup, configuration, and maintenance of workstations, user accounts, and business applications.
• Monitor, track, and update support tickets while ensuring timely resolution in accordance with service-level agreements (SLAs).
• Diagnose and escalate complex technical issues to senior engineers or third-party vendors when required.
• Assist with basic network troubleshooting, including internet connectivity, DNS, Wi-Fi, VPN, and remote access issues.
• Support website hosting environments, domain management, SSL certificates, email configurations, and DNS records for client websites.
• Maintain accurate documentation of incidents, resolutions, technical procedures, and knowledge base articles.
• Perform routine system checks, software updates, security patches, and preventive maintenance activities.
• Coordinate with development and support teams to resolve website-related technical issues affecting clients.
• Ensure professional communication and customer service while interacting with US clients during night-shift operations.
Eligibility & Required Qualifications
• Must hold or be currently pursuing a B. Tech / B. E. degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electronics & Communication, or a related engineering discipline.
• Basic understanding of Word Press CMS — themes, plugins, posts, pages, and settings.
• Working knowledge of HTML5, CSS3, and basic Java Script.
• Familiarity with PHP fundamentals as applied in Word Press development.
• Understanding of responsive web design principles and mobile-first development.
• Basic understanding of computer hardware, operating systems, and software troubleshooting.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office 365, Windows operating systems, and common productivity tools.
• Understanding of networking fundamentals such as DNS, TCP/IP, Wi-Fi, VPNs, and internet connectivity.
• Ability to read and follow technical documentation, tutorials, and coding standards.
• Good communication skills and a collaborative attitude toward team-based work.
• Strong problem-solving mindset and willingness to assist clients professionally.
• Eagerness to learn, take feedback constructively, and grow in both development and support roles.
Preferred Qualifications
• Hands-on experience with Word Press page builders such as Elementor, WPBakery, or Divi.
• Familiarity with Woo Commerce for e-commerce website development.
• Exposure to version control systems, particularly Git and Git Hub.
• Basic knowledge of My SQL or database concepts as used in Word Press.
• Experience with website performance tools such as Google Page Speed Insights or GTmetrix.
• Understanding of basic SEO principles and tools like Yoast SEO or Rank Math.
• Familiarity with c Panel, web hosting environments, and FTP/SFTP tools.
• Knowledge of website hosting, domain management, DNS records, and SSL certificates.
• Familiarity with helpdesk platforms such as Zendesk, Freshdesk, Jira Service Management, or similar ticketing systems.
• Personal projects, college assignments, freelance work, or a portfolio demonstrating Word Press or IT support experience.
