The Web Developer will support the end-to-end redesign, development, and deployment of a modern, accessible, and secure website. This role requires hands-on expertise in WordPress development, ADA/WCAG compliance, and integration of web services, along with collaboration across design, content, and stakeholder teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and implement WordPress-based websites aligned with business and user experience goals
- Participate in
discovery and planning activities (site analysis, sitemap, content strategy) - Build
responsive, mobile-first, cross-browser compatible interfaces - Develop
custom WordPress themes, plugins, and templates - Ensure
ADA compliance (WCAG 2.1 AA) through development and remediation practices - Integrate third-party systems:
- Payment gateways
- APIs and external services
- Social media integrations

- Perform
content migration (approx. 190+ pages) and validation - Optimize performance, SEO, scalability, and security
- Support
DNS configuration, hosting setup, and deployment activities - Conduct testing:
- Accessibility audits
- Cross-browser/device testing
- Security validation

- Troubleshoot issues and provide post-launch support
- Collaborate with stakeholders, designers, and content teams
- Provide documentation and assist in training client staff for CMS usage
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field
- 5+ years of web development experience
- Strong experience with
WordPress (development + administration) - Proficiency in:
- HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript
- PHP, MySQL
- REST APIs

- Experience implementing
WCAG 2.1 AA / ADA compliance - Experience with
responsive frameworks and mobile-first design - Understanding of:
- SEO best practices
- Web security standards

- Experience with
content migration and CMS restructuring
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with
public sector or higher education clients - Experience with
cloud hosting (AWS/Azure) and DNS management - Familiarity with
accessibility testing tools (e.g., Axe, Wave) - Experience with
Agile or structured project delivery environments - Relevant certifications (WordPress, Accessibility, Web Development)
Nice-to-Have:
- Experience handling
ADA audits / remediation projects - Knowledge of
analytics tools (Google Analytics, Search Console) - Experience with
security best practices (OWASP)
