  • Experience adapting existing codebases, integrating REST APIs, and collaborating with QA in healthcare, medical device, or other regulated environments.

What You'll Do

  • Adapt existing Android BLE code into a new Android application.
  • Update the current workflow from supporting one BLE device to supporting multiple concurrent BLE devices.
  • Build and modify Jetpack Compose UX/UI for BLE device setup, connection status, readings, and error states.
  • Work with Kotlin, Coroutines, Flow, ViewModels, and modern Android architecture.
  • Troubleshoot BLE connection, reconnection, permission, and device-state issues.
  • Collaborate with the Android lead, QA, backend, and product teams to test and refine the implementation.
  • Help document key BLE behavior, assumptions, edge cases, and known limitations.

Required Qualifications

  • Professional Android development experience using Kotlin.
  • Experience with Jetpack Compose.
  • Experience working with BLE or connected-device workflows.
  • Understanding of Android lifecycle, Bluetooth permissions, and background behavior.
  • Experience with Coroutines, Flow, StateFlow, and ViewModels.
  • Ability to read existing code, understand the architecture, and safely adapt it into a new app.
  • Strong debugging skills and comfort testing on real Android devices.
  • BS/BA degree
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience integrating BLE devices into Android apps
  • Experience with healthcare, medical device, clinical, or regulated software.
  • Experience with Hilt, Room, REST APIs, or offline-capable apps.
  • Experience working closely with QA on device testing and edge cases.

Technical Stack

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is a practical Android developer who can jump into existing code, understand what is already working, and adapt it cleanly for a new use case.

You do not need to invent the BLE architecture from scratch, but you do need to be comfortable enough with BLE to troubleshoot real-device behavior and extend the app from one active sensor to multiple sensors.
