The GE Greenville Gas turbine Assembler Apprentice Program combines both academic studies and on-the-job training to develop the fundamentals required to become a skilled Assembler with GE Power.

Program Summary

  • 1-year program (registered with the Department of Labor) combining on-the-job training with coursework through local community college.
  • On-the-job training will include rotations in Unit Assembly, Rotor Assembly/Repair, Casings Assembly and Unit-to-Base.
  • Apprentices paid for on-the-job training.
  • Tuition, fees, and books will be paid by any available grants, scholarship funding and GE (via tuition reimbursement benefits).
  • Mentoring, teamwork, and ongoing reviews.
  • Training in safety, basic measurements, tooling, assembly, print reading, and many other manufacturing processes.
  • Successfully complete the program and earn a GE Vernova Gas Turbine Assembly Technician Certificate.

What the A-Assembler Program Provides

  • Hands on experience working in a manufacturing environment.
  • Build fundamental tooling, assembly, and operational knowledge of heavy frame gas turbines.

  • Participate in Team activities for Human Resources, Problem Solving, 5S, Kaizen and Lean Manufacturing continuous improvements projects.

Desired Qualifications

  • Strong mechanical and mathematical aptitude.
  • Ability to maintain a minimum average grade of “C” or higher on all course work completed.
  • Strong team member attitude, and the ability to work closely with other apprentices and trainers.
  • Ability and eagerness to learn.
  • Great communication skills.
  • Manufacturing or applicable mechanical/electrical experience.

Eligibility / Qualifications:

  • Successfully pass an extensive interview process.
  • Successfully pass all required assessments, including tests of mechanical aptitude, basic math, tape measure usage, and gauge reading
  • Ability and willingness to work rotating or fixed shifts, including 1st (6:45 AM–2:45 PM), 2nd (2:45 PM–10:45 PM), and 3rd (11:45 PM–6:45 AM) shifts. Please note: Apprentices will remain on 1st shift for the first year of the program. Upon graduation, apprentices will be assigned to an off-shift (2nd or 3rd)
  • In addition, business needs may require overtime, or weekend shifts.
  • Perform other assigned duties as required.

Pay Rate: The pay for this position is $27.78 This position is also eligible for shift premium when you work on an off shift i.e. 2nd or 3rd shift. Plus $1.00 USD an hour on top of base pay.
