Join us for a major systems-renewal project! We are seeking a passionate and skilled Spring Boot (Java) and SQL Backend Developer to join our technical team. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in building scalable backend systems and designing robust APIs. You will play a crucial role in designing, developing, testing, and deploying high-quality enterprise and client-facing applications, delivering seamless user experiences and robust backend functionality.
This position will be based in Cape Town, South Africa Key responsibilities Develop and maintain backend services using Spring Boot . Design, build, and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, and database structures . Build and maintain RESTful APIs for internal and external integrations. Work closely with frontend and mobile teams to deliver complete solutions. Write high-quality, secure, reusable, and well-documented code that conforms to Path Care standards. Participate in code reviews. Maintain applications and provide technical support. Provide detailed estimates of work and ensure features are delivered on time. Create and maintain necessary software design and architecture documentation. Key competency requirements Solid working experience with Java 8 or higher, Spring boot , RESTful and/or SOAP services. A strong understanding of microservices architecture. Experience with Test Driven Development . Experience working with SQL/No SQL databases. Knowledge of security best practices. Familiarity with Angular or other frontend frameworks. Experience working with Mongo database. Experience working with Inter Systems IRIS / Cache Object Script. Familiarity with health-oriented protocols - HL7, DICOM, FHIR, XML. Experience working with tools like Git , Jenkins, Docker, Flyway and Jira . Experience with Keycloak setup and integration. Personal profile Minimum of 5 years post-qualification relevant experience required with a bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field. Excellent interpersonal and analytical skills. An innovative and creative thinker with a passion for staying ahead of current industry trends.
