BI Developer / Data Engineerwith Microsoft Fabric
Description
We are seeking an experienced BI Developer / Data Engineer to design, develop, deploy and support trusted business intelligence and data solutions using Microsoft Fabric, Power BI, PySpark, Spark SQL and T-SQL. The role will convert business requirements into governed data products, semantic models, dashboards and reports that provide reliable information for operational and strategic decision making.
Location: Sandton (3 days per week in office)

Responsibilities
- Design, build and maintain end to end data pipelines and ETL/ELT processes using Microsoft Fabric, PySpark and Spark SQL.
- Develop and publish Power BI semantic models, reports and dashboards with robust governance and documentation.
- Write and optimize T-SQL for ingestion, transformation and reporting against relational databases.
- Convert business requirements into well governed data products, data models and reusable artifacts.
- Manage and support relational database environments; troubleshoot data, query and performance issues.
- Apply performance tuning and indexing strategies to ensure reliable query performance and scalability.
- Participate in the full solution lifecycle: requirements gathering, design, development, testing, deployment and support.
- Implement data quality, monitoring and error handling patterns and produce operational documentation.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders, data engineers, analysts and architects to deliver production solutions.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 4 to 6 years of professional experience in business intelligence, analytics or data development.
- Proven hands-on experience developing production solutions with Power BI and T-SQL.
- Practical experience with Microsoft Fabric and PySpark or Spark SQL for data ingestion and transformation workloads.
- Experience managing or supporting relational databases and troubleshooting data, query and performance issues.
- Demonstrated experience across the full solution lifecycle including testing, deployment and documentation.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work on-site in Sandton three days per week.
