Job Title: Senior CNC Programmer – Optical Manufacturing | 5-Axis | Haas | Mastercam

Location: Sarasota, FL (On-site) Full-Time

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior CNC Programmer to support a highly specialized optical manufacturing environment producing precision components for laser, aerospace, and defense applications.

This role requires strong expertise in multi-axis CNC programming, advanced machining processes, and tight-tolerance manufacturing. The ideal candidate will bring a hands‑on approach to programming, setup, and process optimization within a high‑precision production setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, modify, and optimize CNC programs using Mastercam or equivalent CAM software
  • Program and support operation of 3‑axis and 5‑axis CNC machines (Haas preferred)
  • Generate and refine G‑code for complex, high‑precision components
  • Lead tooling selection, setup strategies, and machining process improvements
  • Design and implement fixtures and workholding solutions
  • Collaborate with engineering and quality teams to ensure compliance with specifications
  • Support production by troubleshooting machining and programming issues
  • Maintain strict adherence to tolerance, surface finish, and quality standards

Required Qualifications
  • 5+ years of CNC programming experience in a precision manufacturing environment
  • Advanced proficiency in Mastercam or similar CAM software
  • Demonstrated experience with 5‑axis CNC machining (simultaneous preferred)
  • Hands‑on experience with Haas CNC machines
  • Strong knowledge of G‑code, tooling, feeds, and speeds
  • Proven ability to machine components to tight tolerances
  • Strong blueprint reading and problem‑solving skills

Required Industry / Equipment Experience
  • Direct experience within optical manufacturing environments
  • Hands‑on experience with:
  • Satisloh optical systems
  • OptiPro optical machines
  • Optical grinding and polishing equipment
  • Familiarity with optical metrology systems (e.g., Zygo interferometers)

Preferred Background
  • Laser optics or infrared (IR) optics
  • Aerospace or defense manufacturing
  • Optical lens production
  • Experience in regulated, high‑precision production environments

Additional Information

This position is best suited for candidates with a strong background in precision optical or advanced manufacturing, who are comfortable working in a quality‑driven and technically demanding environment.
