A PE-backed specialty chemicals manufacturer is looking for a Controller to lead the finance function and serve as a key driver of its integration into a parent organization. This is a hands-on role with broad ownership across financial reporting, budgeting, internal controls, and a planned ERP implementation in 2027. It is a strong stepping stone for an experienced Accounting Manager ready to move into their first Controller seat, particularly one with a manufacturing background.

Responsibilities
- Own the monthly financial close including journal entries, general ledger review, and preparation of income statement, balance sheet, and operational KPI reporting
- Lead the annual budget and periodic forecasting process end-to-end, partnering with department heads and parent company FP&A
- Design and continuously improve operational reporting and KPI dashboards for leadership visibility
- Establish and strengthen internal controls across cash, segregation of duties, approval workflows, and credit card and petty cash processes
- Drive integration of finance and accounting processes into the parent organization, including policy alignment, chart of accounts mapping, and reporting cadences
- Serve as a key contributor to ERP selection, design, and implementation targeted for 2027
- Monitor cash flow, prepare sales tax returns, reconcile bank statements, and manage commission and rebate reporting
- Supervise and develop the accounting team through the integration and ERP transition
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in accounting required
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a Controller, Assistant Controller, or senior Accounting Manager role
- Manufacturing industry experience required
- Strong cost accounting knowledge and advanced Excel skills
- Experience with ERP systems; hands-on involvement in an ERP conversion is a strong plus
- Prior experience in a PE-backed or multi-entity environment is a plus
- CPA preferred but not required
