Job Summary:
The Level 2 CT Technologist is responsible for performing diagnostic CT imaging procedures in a trauma center setting, ensuring patient safety and comfort throughout the process. This role involves patient preparation, IV insertion, image acquisition, and accurate documentation within electronic medical records. The technologist collaborates with physicians and maintains the cleanliness and safety of the scanning environment. A minimum of two years of related experience, NYS licensure, and ARRT certification are required.
Responsibilities:
- Confirm patient identity and exam verification prior to scanning, adhering to safety protocols.
- Coordinate with physicians to provide diagnostic imaging services.
- Prepare patients for CT scans, explaining procedures to ensure comfort.
- Insert IVs as necessary for imaging tests.
- Position patients safely, including lifting or moving those with limited mobility using proper techniques.
- Maintain accurate patient records by documenting all necessary information in EPIC.
- Ensure images are correctly identified and transmitted to the PACS system upon exam completion.
- Maintain a clean and safe scanning environment.
Required Skills & Certifications:
- Completion of formal training in an approved School of Radiologic Technology.
- Certification through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
- New York State licensure (must be obtained prior to starting).
- Minimum of two years of CT technologist experience.
- Experience in a Level 1 Trauma Center.
- American Heart Association BLS certification.
Preferred Skills & Certifications:
- Injection certification or willingness to complete it during orientation.
- Experience with Philips and Siemens CT equipment.
- Experience using EPIC electronic medical records system.
Special Considerations:
- Must adhere to patient safety and infection control policies.
- Ability to work with patients requiring safe handling and mobility assistance.
- On-call, callback, and holiday work requirements as per unit needs.
Scheduling:
- Weekday overnight shifts, Monday through Thursday, from 9:30 PM to 8:00 AM EST.
- Shift assignments may include on-call and callback duties.
