We are seeking an experienced Senior Data Developer to join a high-impact project team in Perth. This role will contribute to the next phase of a business-critical application, building on the success of two previously completed project phases and extending functionality into new areas of the organisation.
Working within an established team, you'll help enhance and evolve an existing Databricks-based solution, leveraging complex data ingestion, transformation, and processing frameworks to deliver high-quality business outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain data processing solutions using PySpark within a Databricks environment.
- Enhance and extend an existing application by delivering new functionality and features.
- Work closely with business stakeholders to gather, refine, and validate requirements.
- Develop and optimise data ingestion, cleansing, transformation, and reporting processes.
- Review code and contribute to technical discussions around architecture and design decisions.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies, including daily stand-ups, sprint planning, and retrospectives.
- Prepare and present sprint demonstrations and progress updates to stakeholders.
- Collaborate with fellow developers to ensure high-quality, scalable, and maintainable solutions.
- Validate outputs and ensure data quality across complex processing pipelines.
Requirements
- Strong commercial experience developing with PySpark and Databricks .
- Proven experience working on complex data engineering, analytics, or application development projects.
- Solid understanding of data ingestion, ETL/ELT processes, data transformation, and data quality practices.
- Experience working with large and complex datasets in cloud-based environments.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
- Experience participating in code reviews and contributing to technical design discussions.
- Ability to work autonomously while collaborating effectively within an Agile delivery team.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Desirable Skills
- Experience with Azure data platforms and cloud-native services.
- Exposure to Agile project delivery methodologies.
- Previous experience delivering enterprise-scale data and analytics solutions.
