Developer (Application Development) (Ref. 260616009-IE)
[to be appointed at the substantive level of Analyst/ Assistant Analyst]
Duties
The appointee will be a member of the Administrative Application Services Section, which is responsible for developing, enhancing and supporting the University’s administrative systems including student-related, staff-related and finance-related applications. He/She will be required to:
(a) work together with development team in the development, maintenance and enhancement work of new and existing systems;
(b) communicate with business users on requirement gathering and perform business needs analysis;
(c) conduct user and system tests to ensure the quality of the applications;
(d) produce and maintain system documentation; and
(e) perform any other duties as assigned by the Director of the Office or his delegates.
Qualifications
Applicants should:
(a) have a recognised degree OR higher diploma or diploma in Computer Science or a related discipline;
(b) preferably have at least one year’s programming experience for degree holders and three years’ relevant working experience for higher diploma or diploma holders;
(c) have experience in Java EE application development, including EJB, Spring, and Spring Boot running on IBM WebSphere;
(d) have hands-on experience in using IDE tool such as VS Code and use Gen AI to carry out inline code editing in GitHub environment;
(e) be proficient in at least one front-end framework (e.g. React, Angular, Vue.js) and one back-end framework (e.g. RUST, Node.js, Django);
(f) have solid understanding of databases, Restful APIs, and web architecture patterns;
(g) have strong analytical skills, good interpersonal and communication skills;
(h) be able to work independently with minimal supervision; and
(i) have a good command of both written and spoken English and Chinese.
Applicants with less experience will be considered for the post of Assistant Analyst. Fresh graduate will also be considered.
Conditions of Service
A highly competitive remuneration package will be offered. Initial appointment will be on a fixed-term gratuity-bearing contract. Re-engagement thereafter is subject to mutual agreement.
