Job Description Lead Embedded Software MediaTek C-X1 Platform Engineer

Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Lead MediaTek C-X1 Platform Engineer to lead the end-to-end bring-up and enablement of the iRDK platform on the MediaTek C-X1 SoC. This role will own the technical execution from the initial EVK reference platform through custom board bring-up, platform integration, validation, and stabilization.
The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in embedded software, SoC and BSP bring-up, Linux kernel development, bootloaders, and hardware/software integration. The candidate will serve as the primary technical interface with MediaTek, driving platform enablement, issue resolution, technical escalations, and cross-functional alignment.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the end-to-end iRDK platform bring-up on the MediaTek C-X1 SoC, transitioning from the EVK reference platform to a custom hardware board.
Own and drive the embedded software stack bring-up, including:
Bootloader
Linux kernel
Board Support Package (BSP)
Device drivers
Middleware and platform services
Serve as the primary technical interface with MediaTek for platform enablement, technical support, issue resolution, and engineering escalations.
Define and execute the platform bring-up, integration, validation, and stabilization strategy.
Lead platform characterization activities, including:
Performance analysis and optimization
System stability validation
Boot-time analysis
Power and thermal profiling
System-level performance tuning
Debug and resolve complex hardware, firmware, kernel, driver, and platform integration issues.
Collaborate closely with system architecture, hardware, software, validation, and program management teams to align technical execution with program milestones.
Drive technical decisions related to platform architecture, software integration, system performance, and bring-up risks.
Establish platform bring-up plans, technical milestones, validation criteria, and issue-tracking processes.
Provide weekly updates to program leadership covering:
Development and bring-up status
Technical risks and dependencies
Key issues and mitigation plans
Design decisions and required escalations
Mentor and provide technical leadership to embedded software engineers working on the platform.
Support integration and validation of automotive infotainment software components and system services.
Required Qualifications
10+ years of hands-on experience in embedded software development.
At least 5 years of experience in a technical leadership, Staff Engineer, Principal Engineer, or Lead Engineer role.
Direct hands-on experience with MediaTek SoC platforms, including C-X1, MT8xxx series, or equivalent MediaTek automotive or embedded platforms.
Proven experience leading complete SoC, ECU, or embedded platform bring-up programs from EVK/reference hardware through custom-board enablement.
Strong expertise in:
Linux kernel bring-up and customization
BSP development and integration
Device driver integration and debugging
U-Boot or equivalent bootloaders
Embedded Linux system architecture
Strong programming and scripting skills in C, C++, and Python; experience with Rust is desirable.
Hands-on experience with low-level hardware and software debugging tools, including:
Lauterbach
JTAG
Oscilloscopes
Logic analyzers
Serial and hardware debug interfaces
Strong understanding of SoC architecture, boot flows, memory subsystems, peripheral interfaces, and hardware/software interaction.
Experience working directly with semiconductor or SoC vendors for platform enablement and technical escalations.
Excellent technical communication, stakeholder management, documentation, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with automotive-grade SoC or infotainment platform bring-up.
Familiarity with the MediaTek iRDK SDK, development environment, and toolchain.
Experience with automotive ECU development and production-grade embedded platforms.
Working knowledge of ISO 26262 functional safety concepts and automotive software development practices.
Experience with hypervisor-based or virtualized embedded platforms.
Knowledge of virtualization technologies such as:
Xen
KVM
Type-1 hypervisors
Automotive virtualization frameworks
Experience with performance optimization, system profiling, power management, and thermal analysis.
Familiarity with automotive software architectures and infotainment systems.
