Responsibilities :
- Play a key role in the migration of our Chakra v2 component library to v3, ensuring a smooth and efficient transition.
- Architect, develop, and maintain reusable, accessible UI components, hooks, and utilities within our design system.
- Drive best practices for component architecture, state management, composability, and prop naming.
- Collaborate closely with design and product teams to translate complex design specifications into high-quality, pixel-perfect UI components.
- Ensure all components adhere to WCAG2 accessibility standards and champion accessibility best practices across the organization.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive and clear component documentation.
- Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and support to other engineers, actively unblocking and answering questions.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of our development processes, tooling, and overall frontend ecosystem.
- Manage NPM package versioning and deployment strategies for our component libraries.
- Implement and maintain robust unit and visual regression tests for all components.
Required Experience:
- 7+ years of progressive experience in Frontend web development, with at least 3 years specifically focused on architecting and maintaining design systems and component libraries at scale.
- Demonstrated expertise in implementing WCAG2 accessibility requirements.
- Proven ability to write clear, concise, and comprehensive component documentation.
- A highly communicative, collaborative, and thoughtful approach to problem-solving.
- Strong opinion on frontend best practices and design system principles, balanced with flexibility and adaptability.
- Extensive experience collaborating with cross-functional design and product teams.
Technical Expertise:
- Expert-level proficiency in:
- React, TypeScript, JavaScript, CSS, HTML
- Modern CSS paradigms (Grid, Flexbox, Cascade Layers, Container Queries, CSS Custom Properties, Color Modes, CSS Animations)
- NPM package versioning and deployment strategies
- Component library maintenance and migrations
- Building reusable, accessible UI components, hooks, and utilities
- Writing comprehensive unit tests (e.g., with React Testing Library)
- Tokenization within a design system
- Component architecture principles (e.g., context providers, avoiding "one-offs," state management, composability, prop naming)
- Storybook: Expert-level experience in configuring global providers, advanced customizations, and contributing to or creating Storybook addons.
