THE ORGANISATION
Think Talent is partnering with a well-funded sports technology start-up building a new global platform designed to bring fans closer to the athletes, teams, leagues and moments they care about.
With strong momentum across product, partnerships and investment, the business is moving from beta towards public launch. It is now strengthening its Melbourne-based technology team and bringing greater ownership of the platform in-house.

THE OPPORTUNITY
As Senior Full-Stack Engineer, you will help build, stabilise and scale a complex, mobile-first platform spanning live sports data, personalised content, fan experiences, AI-enabled workflows and commercial infrastructure.
This is not a narrow feature-factory role. You will work close to the product, architecture and business outcomes, moving between hands-on development, technical problem-solving and pragmatic delivery decisions.
Working alongside Product, Design and Engineering leadership, you will:
- Own and deliver core product and platform features across mobile, backend, data and cloud services.
- Build scalable, maintainable APIs and production-grade backend services.
- Help harden the platform for public launch, improving reliability, performance, observability and security.
- Diagnose complex technical and production issues across application, data and infrastructure layers.
- Contribute to architectural decisions covering live data, content, personalisation, AI and commercial functionality.
- Improve testing, CI/CD, release management, documentation and engineering quality.
- Work closely with an established offshore development team to strengthen technical handover, code quality and delivery continuity.
- Translate product requirements into practical technical solutions that can be clearly understood by both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
THE TECHNOLOGY ENVIRONMENT
You do not need to match every technology perfectly, but you will bring strong full-stack fundamentals and the ability to learn quickly.
- Java and Spring Boot
- Flutter
- Python supporting AI and machine-learning workflows
- Apache Cassandra and high-throughput, low-latency data patterns
- Google Cloud Platform
- CI/CD and DevOps automation
- OpenTelemetry, monitoring, logging and performance diagnostics
ABOUT YOU
You are a hands-on senior engineer who enjoys solving difficult problems and building products that real customers use.
You are likely to bring:
- 5+ years’ full-stack engineering experience in a product-led, high-growth or start-up environment.
- Strong backend engineering capability, ideally using Java and Spring Boot.
- Experience designing APIs, distributed systems and scalable application architecture.
- Exposure to NoSQL databases, high-volume data or real-time platforms.
- Practical cloud, DevOps, deployment and production-support experience.
- Flutter experience - or the willingness and versatility to work deeply across a mobile-first stack.
- Experience integrating Python, AI-enabled services or data-driven workflows into production products would be highly regarded.
- The confidence to work with distributed engineering teams, review code and lift delivery standards.
Just as importantly, you are a strong communicator. You explain complex technical decisions clearly, document your thinking and work constructively across Product, Design, Engineering and commercial teams. You can challenge an idea without creating theatre, and bring clarity when the answer is not immediately obvious.
Experience gained within similarly scaled consumer, marketplace, media, wagering, creator or sports technology businesses would translate well.
