Today, we’re a thriving team of 1,000+ talented and supportive colleagues across the UK, Ireland, Benelux, South Africa, and Malaysia—and we’re continuing to grow.
At Ekco, how we work matters as much as what we deliver. Our people live by four core values that shape everything we do:
On It: We take ownership, follow through, and get things done.
All In : We collaborate, support each other, and commit fully to shared goals.
Connected: We build trusted relationships with colleagues, clients, and partners.
Hungry to Grow: We stay curious, keep learning, and push ourselves to the next level.
If these values resonate with you, you’ll feel right at home here.
The Role
We're looking for a senior full stack developer to take technical ownership of significant parts of Sphere, our multi-tenant customer portal. We want someone who can scope ambiguous problems, make the architectural call, and raise the level of the codebase around them. You'll mentor other engineers, weigh in on technical direction, and be trusted to work with minimal oversight on complex, cross-cutting work.
Sphere isn't a standalone app. It's the presentation layer on top of a broader data platform that feeds the reports and analytics embedded in the portal. We're building a team of full stack developers and data engineers who work closely together to deliver it, and we're specifically looking for someone with strong systems thinking: able to reason about how the portal, its APIs, and the upstream data pipeline fit together, not just the web application in isolation.
What you'll do
Own the design and delivery of significant features end to end, from data model to UI
Make and document architectural decisions for a multi-tenant SaaS platform, weighing tradeoffs around performance, security, and maintainability
Design REST APIs and background job systems that scale with a growing customer base
Build and evolve a component-based Vue 3/TypeScript frontend, including CMS-driven UI
Review code and mentor other engineers, raising the team's standards on testing, architecture, and code quality
Partner directly with product/business during scoping so you shape requirements, not just receive them
Identify and resolve technical debt and systemic issues before they become customer-facing problems
Integrate with Microsoft Azure services (authentication, storage, embedded analytics) and third-party APIs
Work closely with (local) data engineers on the upstream Databricks/Unity Catalog data pipelines
Write and maintain integrations between Sphere and external systems, including ITSM, monitoring, and backup tooling, among others.
Tech you'll use
Backend: Python, Django, Django REST Framework, PostgreSQL, Celery
Frontend: Vue 3, TypeScript, Vite, Pinia
Cloud & infra: Microsoft Azure (Azure AD, Blob Storage), Docker, GitLab CI/CD
Data platform: Databricks (Unity Catalog, medallion architecture), Power BI (embedded reporting)
Other: automated end-to-end testing (Playwright)
What you'll bring
5+ years professional experience building production web applications with Python/Django (or a comparable backend framework), including at least some time in a senior or lead capacity
Strong experience with a modern JavaScript framework (Vue, React, or Angular) and a solid grip on frontend architecture, not just component-building
Track record of owning systems end to end: design, implementation, testing, and operating them in production
Experience mentoring other engineers and influencing technical direction, whether formally or informally
Comfort working with ambiguity. You can turn a loosely defined problem into a scoped, well-architected solution
Strong instincts for API design, data modeling, and security in a multi-tenant context
Clear communicator who can explain technical tradeoffs to non-technical stakeholders
Strong systems thinking
Nice to have
Experience with Microsoft Azure or another major cloud provider at scale
Experience with headless CMS platforms
Background in multi-tenant or B2B SaaS products
Experience in cybersecurity or IT services
Prior experience as a tech lead or architect, even informally
