Senior Java Software Developer

Job Summary:

The Software Developer is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining large-scale multi-client web applications. This role involves managing data interchange between servers and users, translating technical specifications into tested software solutions, and ensuring high performance and responsiveness. The developer will work collaboratively throughout the software development lifecycle, applying expertise in Java, RESTful services, and database technologies to deliver robust applications.

Responsibilities:

• Manage data interchange between server and users.
• Translate technical system specifications into working, tested applications.
• Develop detailed programming specifications and write/generate code.
• Compile data-driven programs and conduct unit tests.
• Resolve and troubleshoot technical problems during software use and operation.
• Provide technical assistance in implementation, conversion, and software support.
• Collaborate with IT professionals throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Design, code, test, debug, and document applications.
• Develop server-side logic and maintain central databases for high performance.
• Integrate front-end elements into applications ensuring responsiveness.
• Provide post-implementation support and resolve technical issues.
• Conduct design walkthroughs and provide user/system documentation as required.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• 10+ years of experience designing and developing large-scale multi-client web applications.
• 10+ years hands-on Java development experience with Oracle or SQL databases.
• 5+ years hands-on experience with REST API and RESTful Web Services.
• Knowledge of microservice architecture and core architecture principles.
• Experience with relational and hierarchical database technologies.
• Proficiency with security gateways and protocols such as JWT, OAuth 2.0, and SSL certificates.
• Experience with object-oriented coding practices, design patterns, and clean code principles.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively in teams and meet deadlines.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Experience with rapid application development (RAD) methodologies.
• Knowledge of Azure DevOps and Agile methodologies.
• Experience programming internet-ready applications.
• Familiarity with middleware, gateways, and product installation scripting.
• Understanding of Information Management principles and related policies.
• Knowledge of Accessibility for Ontarians with Disability Act (AODA) compliance.
• Experience conducting design walkthrough sessions with project teams.

Special Considerations:

• Position requires onsite presence at the designated office location.
• Must be able to work between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM, Monday to Friday.
• Ability to work under pressure and adapt to aggressive timelines.
• May be required to provide post-implementation support and troubleshooting.
• Team player with strong interpersonal and negotiation skills.

Scheduling:

• Standard work schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM (excluding lunch breaks).
• Onsite attendance required during standard working hours.
