Job Summary:
The Software Developer will design, develop, and implement front-end and back-end solutions, translating technical specifications into tested applications. This role involves collaboration across the Software Development Life Cycle to build scalable, responsive, and accessible software systems, with a strong focus on Java technologies, web interfaces, and database management.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and implement front-end code including user interface interactions.
- Create attractive and effective user interfaces for large-scale web applications.
- Translate technical system specifications into working, tested applications.
- Develop detailed programming specifications, write code, compile data-driven programs, and maintain applications.
- Conduct unit tests and resolve technical problems during software operation.
- Provide technical assistance for implementation, conversion, and migrations.
- Collaborate with IT professionals throughout the Software Development Life Cycle.
- Use structured methodologies for design, development, implementation, and maintenance of applications.
- Work with relational and hierarchical database technologies and query languages.
- Integrate and troubleshoot communications protocols and middleware.
- Define product strategy and roadmap, assess partnerships, and run beta/pilot programs.
- Ensure compliance with Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) and related standards.
- Provide post-implementation support and documentation as required.
Required Skills & Certifications:
- 10+ years of experience with Java language and Java Development IDE Tools (Eclipse, IBM RAD, IBM RSA).
- 5+ years experience with WebSphere v8.5 or higher and Hibernate/JPA.
- 5+ years experience with Angular, Typescript, HTML5, CSS, Node (NPM), RXJS, Bootstrap, and jQuery.
- Experience with Spring Framework (MVC, Security, JPA, Boot) and Bitbucket.
- Experience in responsive web application development and cross-browser compatibility.
- 10+ years experience with Oracle database (version 11G+), including SQL, tables, views, stored procedures, functions, and triggers.
- Experience with AODA/WCAG 2.0 AA compliance.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, decision-making, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Experience with RESTful Web Services and APIs.
- Experience using Azure DevOps.
Preferred Skills & Certifications:
- Knowledge of rapid application development (RAD) methodologies.
- Experience with middleware, gateways, and product installation scripts.
- Experience conducting design walkthrough sessions.
- Knowledge of Information Management principles, concepts, policies, and practices.
- Experience working with social media APIs.
- Experience defining product strategy and assessing licensing opportunities.
- Leadership and collaboration skills with a track record of building strong working relationships.

- 5 days onsite work required.
- Ability to provide post-implementation support and resolve technical issues promptly.
