Sytac is looking for an experienced Senior Java Engineer to join one of our high-impact project teams embedded within a major global financial services client. In this role, you will help design, build, and maintain a high-speed, high-volume global target system responsible for managing enterprise customer data across retail, business, and wholesale segments.
As a Sytac consultant, you won't just write code—you will drive technical direction, lead architectural decisions, and collaborate with multidisciplinary international teams in a dynamic BizDevOps environment.
The Project & Tech Stack
You will be joining a stream-aligned team within a global customer data management platform designed for 24/7 reliability. Operating under modern inner-source principles, the engineering stack leverages:
- Core: Java 21, Spring Boot REST APIs
- Architecture: Hexagonal Architecture, Domain-Driven Design (DDD)
- Streaming & Data: Apache Kafka, Cassandra, Elasticsearch, Neo4j, IBM MDM, DB2
- Engineering Culture: TDD/BDD, Clean Code, CI/CD, and AI-assisted development (GitHub Copilot)
Roles & Responsibilities
- Full-Lifecycle Engineering: Develop, maintain, and operate high-performance backend systems from story refinement through to production deployment and monitoring.
- Technical Leadership: Take ownership of architectural direction, designing reusable components and shared libraries for cross-team adoption.
- Mentorship: Coach and elevate junior to mid-level engineers through regular code reviews, knowledge sharing, and technical guidance.
- Client Collaboration: Work directly with business stakeholders to refine user stories, balance trade-offs, and maximize software value.
- Operational Excellence: Participate in running software in production, including incident resolution, monitoring, and taking part in a scheduled on-call support rotation (approx. 1 week every 1–2 months).
How to Succeed
- Experience: 6–8+ years of professional backend engineering experience with Java and Spring Boot, ideally within corporate or financial sector Agile/DevOps environments.
- Core Skills: Deep mastery of Java 21, Spring Boot APIs, and asynchronous/event-driven architectures (Kafka).
- Data Storage: Hands-on experience with NoSQL and relational databases (e.g., Neo4j, Cassandra, Elasticsearch); prior experience with graph databases or financial data management platforms is a major plus.
- Architecture & Testing: Firm grasp of Hexagonal Architecture, DDD, TDD, and BDD principles.
- Consulting Mindset: Excellent communication skills in English, a proactive ownership attitude ("you build it, you run it"), and the agility to deliver high standards within a client environment.
