Experteer Overview
As a Java UI Developer at Siemens, you will contribute to the Simcenter STAR-CCM+ framework by building and evolving the Java client infrastructure across API and UI layers. You will work closely with Core Framework and UX teams to deliver robust, user-friendly desktop and hybrid solutions. The role involves designing extensible software, code refactoring, and ensuring quality through tests in a large, distributed environment. You will engage in peer reviews and benefit from a collaborative culture that values innovation and growth.
Responsibilities
- Design, document, and build robust, extensible software
- Implement new features and refactor Java client code for Simcenter STAR-CCM+
- Collaborate via Jira, Confluence, Git and Bitbucket
- Partner with UX and vertical teams to improve user workflows
- Work within a modern IDE in a distributed environment
- Participate in peer design and code reviews
- Create and maintain automated unit and integration tests
- Navigate a large codebase with hundreds of modules
- Travel occasionally for in-person collaboration
Qualifications
- Degree or equivalent experience in computer science, engineering or mathematics with 3+ years of post-academic software development experience
- Proficiency crafting client-server, desktop applications for Linux and Windows
- Strong Java skills including modern features
- Experience developing Java clients in Swing/NetBeans (the framework) or similar
- Experience with large-scale datasets and stringent performance/quality requirements
- Experience handling large, legacy codebases
- Experience with Git or distributed version control
- Experience with Jira or similar issue-tracking systems
- Ability to communicate sophisticated technical topics clearly
