Liferay Developer

ROLE SUMMARY AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Liferay Lead Developer to join our team to plan, design, develop, modify, debug and evaluate web portal solutions, and to serve as a team/technical lead for Liferay-based portal projects and services.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Perform hands on design, development, and support activities for web portals with focus on feature rich design, usability, and site performance
2. Deliver solutions based on requirements and schedule
3. Establish and execute traceable unit and integration tests
4. Provide estimates for work effort on assigned projects
5. Maintain Liferay portal environment following standard guidelines for designing and developing secure, supportable, reusable, service-oriented and performing solutions.
6. Understand and apply industry practices, architectural standards and department policies and procedures relating to work assignments
7. Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues as they arise

REQUIRED TECHNICAL QUALIFICATIONS (in order of level of need)

1. Experience delivering extranet/customer solutions from start to finish
2. At least 5 years of experience developing and implementing enterprise-level Java applications
3. At least 2 years of experience as a Dev Team Lead
4. 5+ years of Java/J2EE application design and development experience
5. Experience with OSGI or similar framework
6. Experience with MVC design pattern
7. Experience with Hibernate/Spring frameworks
8. Experience implementing and utilizing Web services, Service/System Integrations
9. Strong Web UI development skills (i.e. HTML, CSS, JavaScript)
10. Development experience utilizing Vaadin framework is a plus
11. Ability to translate business requirements into technical requirements
12. Experience delivering technical design & architecture documentation
13. Experience with code management tools, automated build setup, and deployment procedures
14. 5+ years of strong Liferay hands-on experience:
15. Experience configuring Liferay sites and organizations with permissions
16. Experience developing portlets, custom themes, and WCM features in Liferay
17. Experience implementing logging, usage metrics, audit trail, and usage analytics components
18. Experience installing, configuring, and administering Liferay applications in both production and non-production environments
19. In-depth understanding of Liferay platform and development best practices
20. Project experience with Liferay 7.x DXP is required
21. Experience working with and leading offsite teams is required.
22. Must have strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
23. Integration with enterprise systems and overall architectural standards knowledge.
24. Personal time management skills and ability to meet individual and team deadlines.
25. Excellent communication presentation and organization skills with ability to communicate effectively across multiple IT team disciplines and with business users.
26. Insurance industry experience is a plus

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

1. Bachelor's degree in computer science, management information systems, mathematics or related field is strongly preferred.
