Overview
As a Database Developer, you will play a key role in the design, development, and optimisation of data warehouse and reporting solutions. You will collaborate closely with business stakeholders and technical teams to deliver robust, scalable, and high-performing data platforms that support critical business processes and reporting requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to the design, development, and maintenance of enterprise data warehouse solutions.
- Develop scalable, efficient, and maintainable database code for data integration, transformation, and reporting.
- Build and support reporting and analytics solutions to meet business requirements.
- Collaborate with business users and technical teams to understand data needs and translate requirements into effective solutions.
- Enhance and modernise existing systems to improve performance, scalability, and maintain ability.
- Develop high-quality code in line with established development standards and best practices.
- Optimise database objects, queries, and processes to ensure efficient performance and reliability.
- Identify and resolve performance issues through analysis, monitoring, and tuning activities.
- Participate in data modelling activities, supporting both operational and analytical data environments.
- Work within an agile and collaborative team environment, contributing to technical discussions, code reviews, and knowledge sharing.
Requirements
- Proven experience in Oracle SQL and PL/SQL database development.
- Strong understanding of data warehousing concepts and data modelling methodologies.
- Solid knowledge of advanced SQL techniques, including complex queries, performance optimisation, and data transformation.
- Experience troubleshooting and tuning database performance in large-scale environments.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to deliver scalable and effective solutions.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
- High attention to detail and commitment to delivering quality solutions.
- Excellent communication skills and fluency in English.
- Experience working with source control tools such as Git is advantageous.
- Exposure to scripting or programming languages such as Python is beneficial.
- Experience with data visualisation, reporting, or low-code development platforms would be an advantage.
- A proactive, solution-oriented mindset and a genuine interest in data and technology.
Desirable Skills
- Experience with enterprise data warehouse environments.
- Familiarity with cloud-based data platforms and modern data architectures.
- Exposure to Agile software development methodologies.
- Understanding of ETL/ELT processes and data integration concepts.
