Process Engineer

Our client is seeking an experienced Process Engineer to evaluate metallurgical processes and technical information to identify optimisation opportunities and support business growth. The successful candidate will provide technical expertise through site audits, process evaluations, test work, technical reporting and client training, while supporting sales and strengthening customer relationships.
The role requires a technically strong and customer-focused engineer with experience in mineral processing and sampling, who can translate process data and audit findings into practical solutions that improve equipment performance and create opportunities for the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical input and support for equipment selection, quotations, tenders and margin strategies.
- Conduct enquiry reviews and technical assessments for process auditing activities.
- Identify opportunities to increase market share through technical support to existing and prospective customers.
- Report on market activities and opportunities identified through site audits and customer engagements.
- Participate in exhibitions, conferences, workshops and industry events to build brand recognition, expand product knowledge and identify new business opportunities.
- Standardise technical sections of audit, inspection, safety, reporting and training documentation.
- Manage customer requests, queries and complaints within agreed service level requirements.
- Evaluate process technology against customer requirements and recommend appropriate solutions.
- Conduct scheduled site visits and engage directly with designated customers.
- Deliver customer presentations covering process equipment, operating requirements and maintenance requirements.
- Provide technical training to customers, operators and plant or branch personnel.
- Conduct equipment-efficiency test campaigns and distribute reports to relevant stakeholders within agreed timelines.
- Perform variogram, nomogram and statistical interpretation of bias test results where required.
- Develop test work procedures and flowsheets based on samples, test requirements and equipment.
- Conduct and coordinate test work activities and compile detailed technical reports.
- Ensure all technical reports are accurately completed and submitted within required timelines.
- Submit expenditure and related documentation in accordance with company policies.
- Manage the issuing of FOC items for relevant test work within delegated authority.
- Prepare and distribute conference, workshop and event reports following participation.
- Adhere to QA/QC procedures and maintain internationally accepted quality standards.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable safety procedures, business requirements and OHSA requirements.
- Assist with the compilation and updating of operating and maintenance manuals.
- Communicate audit findings and recommended solutions to relevant engineering, process, quality, after-sales and sampling stakeholders.
- Collaborate with internal teams to develop and implement practical process improvement solutions.
Minimum Requirements
Qualifications
- Grade 12 / Matric.
- Degree in Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Valid driver's licence.
Experience
- At least 3 years' experience in the mining sector in a processing plant environment.
- Working experience with samplers.
- Experience conducting process audits, test work and technical evaluations.
- Experience interpreting metallurgical and process data.
- Experience compiling technical reports and presenting findings to customers and stakeholders.
- Exposure to equipment efficiency testing and process optimisation would be advantageous.
Technical Knowledge
