About the Role
Quest Alliance has been working in the secondary schoolsfor the past few years. In 2020, werolled out a program to build 21st century skills and STEM mindsets among adolescent girls (grade 8and 9) from government schools in Odisha. One of the key areas of QUEST’s work is aroundbuilding computational thinking among adolescents and youths. In Odisha we intend towork with 1075 secondary schools across 30 districts of the state to enable adolescents buildingcomputational thinking and skills to code.
We are looking for multiple Program Associate w ho will be responsible to work closely with theteachers, and district officials and ensure smooth implementation of theprogramme at the school level. Each Program Associate will be responsible formanaging programmes in schools of two districts. The responsibilities includeorientation of the teachers and district officials for enhancing more supportand systemic buy-in. Training of teachers on the aspects of computationalthinking and 21st century skills and conducting workshops with students at theschool level. The personnel will also be responsible for managing andorganizing events/camps at the school and district level.
Detailed Responsibilities
â Ensuring that theofficials at the district level and teachers are oriented about the approach ofthe programme and their support is being given
â Work closely with thedistrict officials in ensuring that the programme becomes part of the mainagenda of the district, shared vision is being developed along with plans whichare reviewed in agreed timelines
â Facilitate trainingof teachers on the modules of computational thinking and 21st century skills.
â Ensure that thestudents are being on-boarded to the chatbot and are completing theircoursework online
â Ensure that thestudents database is being secured from the teachers and is updated at alltimes
â Facilitateworkshop/camps for students to attend physical hour of code sessions and buildunderstanding
â Organize andfacilitate hackathons at the school level to engage and support students inidentification of problem statements, identify solutions and buildingprototypes.
â Ensure that theprototypes developed by students are recorded and stored properly
â Facilitate theprocess of recognition in the district and ensure identification of bestpractices
â Ensure and organizeshare out events at the district level for teachers and students to showcasetheir work
â Support teachers andstudents in representing the districts and share their work during the statelevel event
â Ensure submission ofall required data and reports
â Ensure submission ofall best practices, change stories and photos
Required skills and Experience:
â Minimum 1-2 years ofwork experience in facilitation of training, workshop or working withteachers/students
â Prior experience offacilitating training and workshops for the govt. Teachers (desirable)
â Willingness to learnand influence prevalent practices in education ecosystem
â Having priorknowledge of working in Scratch 2.0, 3.0 or Scratch Junior is preferred
â Excellentinterpersonal, written and verbal communication skills in English and Odia (preferred)
â Excellent IT skills
â Willingness to travel
â Ability to train, build capacity of, and managerelationships with new people â Ability to work independently as well ascollaboratively with other teams
Salary: Thepay band for the position starts at Rs. 32,000/- per month (cost to company) ( Thesalary offered will be commensurate with the experience and expertise of thecandidate)
