Program Coordinator I (Student Support Programs)

The Program Coordinator I serves as a lead contributor in the Department of First- and Second-Year Experience. This position supports strategic planning, coordination, and implementation of key initiatives that advance the university's retention, engagement, and graduation goals. The coordinator manages critical aspects of the first-year and transfer experience. This role includes responsibility for complex logistics, program evaluation, supervision of student staff, and cross-campus coordination.

The salary is determined in accordance with the University's compensation structure and will be commensurate with the candidates' education and experience, within the assigned salary range for this position.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and oversee multi-semester student support strategies.
  • Coordinate timelines, deliverables, and reporting for programs.
  • Plan and execute mentor trainings, academic support, and transition events.
  • Serve as primary point of contact for assigned initiatives.
  • Supervise peer mentors, student workers, and part-time staff.
  • Train and evaluate student employees.
  • Address student-facing issues and escalate support needs.
  • Facilitate coordination with Academic Advising, Financial Aid, and Career Services.
  • Represent department on committees and task forces.
  • Manage student-facing communications and campaigns (email, text, etc.).
  • Design and implement assessment tools.
  • Measure and document outcomes.
  • Maintain program records, timelines, and compliance documentation.
  • Assist in budget tracking and expenditure reports.
  • Support logistics and planning.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Two years of related experience in student affairs, academic advising, or program coordination.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
  • Verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in higher education, counseling, student development, or a related field.
  • Three to four years of experience in student affairs, academic advising, or program coordination.
  • Experience working in a public university with first-year experience or student transition programs.
  • Supervisory experience Knowledge of student development theory and support practices.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data tracking tools.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at once.
  • Familiarity with program assessment and reporting practices.
  • Capacity for sound judgment and independent decision-making.
