We're partnering with an innovative AI/ML scale-up in Sheffield that is transforming how businesses use AI to automate processes, unlock insights, and drive better decision-making.
Following continued growth, they're looking for a Python Developer to join their engineering team and play a key role in building the backend systems and APIs that power their AI-driven products.
This is an opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment where you'll have real influence on product development, architecture, and the adoption of emerging AI technologies. The engineering team actively embraces AI-assisted development, using tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude, and modern LLM platforms to accelerate delivery and improve developer productivity.
What you'll be doing:
- Developing scalable backend services using Python and FastAPI
- Designing and building REST APIs and microservices
- Working with cloud infrastructure and modern deployment pipelines
- Collaborating with AI/ML engineers to integrate LLM and GenAI capabilities into production applications
- Contributing to architecture, performance, and engineering best practices
What we're looking for:
- Strong commercial Python development experience
- Experience with FastAPI (or similar modern Python frameworks)
- Solid understanding of API design and backend architecture
- Experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP
- Familiarity with Docker and CI/CD pipelines
- Exposure to GenAI, LLMs, RAG, LangChain, Claude, GitHub Copilot, or related technologies would be highly beneficial
- A genuine interest in how AI can enhance software development and engineering workflows
