Software Engineering and Python Development – Hengelo (Hybrid)
ALTEN is supporting the development of advanced combat and information management systems used on naval vessels worldwide. Within our CMS Infrastructure team, we are looking for a Software Engineer who wants to work on mission‑critical technology that integrates operator consoles, radar systems and optical sensors into a resilient, high‑performance networked environment.
The role
You will design, develop and test software that enables the network capabilities of combat management system. The team covers the full development chain: requirements analysis, implementation, testing, validation and product demonstrations.
Your profile
• Strong Python skills (OOP, functional programming)
• Experience with build pipelines and tooling (GitLab, Jenkins, Maven, Jira)
• 3+ years of experience; RHCE certification is a plus
• Experience maintaining software across OS releases
• Knowledge of Ansible (certification or demonstrable experience is a plus)
• Understanding of networking (routing, switching, OSPF, multicast, firewalling)
• Experience with scaled scrum is a plus
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, IT Service Management, System & Network Engineering or similar
