QA Engineer (Desktop Software Testing)

Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced QA Engineer to join a team focused on high-performance desktop software applications used in design, visualization, and engineering environments. This role is ideal for a quality professional with strong manual testing expertise and experience validating complex desktop applications, particularly within CAD, 3D visualization, graphics, rendering, or gaming-related software.
The successful candidate will work closely with developers, product managers, and cross-functional teams to ensure the quality, stability, and usability of desktop software products across multiple platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, execute, and maintain manual test cases for desktop software applications.
- Perform functional, regression, integration, and exploratory testing.
- Validate software behavior across Windows and Linux environments.
- Test installation, upgrade, and configuration workflows.
- Reproduce, document, and track software defects through resolution.
- Verify end-user workflows and ensure software meets quality standards.
- Collaborate with development teams to identify root causes of issues.
- Participate in feature reviews and provide quality-focused feedback throughout the software development lifecycle.
- Conduct testing of graphics-intensive applications, including visualization, rendering, and CAD-related functionality.
- Support performance, stability, and compatibility testing efforts.
Required Qualifications
- 5–10 years of experience in Software Quality Assurance.
- Proven experience testing desktop software applications (non-web-based).
- Strong manual testing background with the ability to identify complex functional issues.
- Hands-on experience testing applications on both Windows and Linux platforms .
- Experience with CAD, 3D visualization, graphics, rendering, engineering, or design software.
- Experience testing gaming, simulation, rendering, visualization, or graphics-intensive applications.
- Strong understanding of defect lifecycle management and test methodologies.
- Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work within CST business hours.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Autodesk products such as Alias, VRED, AutoCAD, Fusion 360, Maya, or 3ds Max.
- Understanding of 3D models, geometry, surfaces, assemblies, and engineering workflows.
- Knowledge of graphics technologies such as OpenGL, DirectX, GPU rendering, or visualization pipelines.
- Experience performing visual comparison testing and graphics validation.
- Familiarity with software development processes including Agile methodologies.
- Exposure to automated testing frameworks is a plus.
