In this role you will advance quantum information science and develop practical quantum algorithms leveraging superconducting hardware and HPC integration. You will bridge theory and production-ready software across the IBM Quantum stack, driving research, demonstrations, and collaborations with strategic clients. You will act as the user advocate, identifying software gaps and delivering workshops to researchers and enterprise developers. This position combines scientific rigor with engineering excellence to advance quantum advantage. Be part of shaping near-term quantum capabilities and multi-team programs at IBM Quantum.

• Advance quantum research in quantum information science, algorithms, and applications with a focus on superconducting hardware and verification/validation to reach quantum advantage
• Contribute to high-impact scientific output through publications alongside clients and partners

• Coordinate with internal research units and external stakeholders to align goals and manage multi-team projects
• Maintain industry-leading knowledge of quantum computing to keep IBM at the cutting edge
Responsabilidades
• MSc in Physics, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience
• 3+ years of hands-on quantum computing experience, running near-term algorithms on quantum hardware
• Excellent programming skills in Python, Qiskit, and the IBM Quantum software stack
• Deep understanding of quantum computing architecture in software, middleware, and hardware
• Strong xqbhyrx communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
• Proven problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities
• Project management skills for multi-task, deadline-driven work
• Experience analyzing, modeling, and tuning quantum hardware performance, including transpilation, error suppression and mitigation
• Background in academic and/or industry research with publications
• Strategic thinking with ability to translate goals into actionable plans
• Preferred: PhD in Physics, CS, or CE; understanding of benchmarking and system-level performance modeling; HPC experience; software development skills; cross-functional collaboration; customer-facing experience
• Proven experience with real quantum processors and multi-team collaborations
