Overview
We are seeking experiencedSoftware Engineersto join our dynamic team at Zinkworks. You will be working with one of ourleading financial services clientsto deliver scalable, high-performance solutions. You will work on the design, development, and maintenance of scalable backend services, collaborating closely with frontend engineers, DevOps, and product teams. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving problems, writing clean and maintainable code, and working in a collaborative team and delivery-focused environment.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain robust and secure Java-based applications.
Work with Spring and Spring Batch frameworks to deliver high-performance services.
Ensure scalability, performance, and reliability across distributed systems.
Participate in code reviews, provide technical guidance, and mentor junior developers.
Support continuous integration and deployment pipelines to ensure efficient delivery.
Experience transforming legacy functionalities to support microservice modernization.
Troubleshoot production issues and contribute to root cause analysis.
Work in an Agile/Scrum environment, contributing to all sprint events and artifacts with strong JIRA practice.
Embrace analysis and testing activities to find defects early.
Work closely with product teams to acquire business domain knowledge to support development & QA activities
Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including architects, testers, and DevOps engineers.
Essential Skills and Experience
Core Technologies: Strong hands-on expertise with Java (JDK 8+) with Spring Integration and Spring Kafka. Also, Spring Batch for large-scale data processing
Experience with RESTful APIs and microservices architecture.
Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps best practices.
Architectures: Solid microservices architecture experience
Databases: Solid SQL, Oracle database design and management Experience
Messaging & Streaming: Proficiency with ActiveMQ and Kafka.
Cloud-Native: Exposure to Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, and OpenShift.
CI/CD & Build Tools: Skilled in Jenkins, Gradle, and Maven.
Caching & SCM: Experience with Redis, Git, and GitLab.
Quality Assurance: Strong awareness of testing methodologies and software quality practices.
Personal Attributes
Must have a proactive mindset to identify blockers early and take action or escalate resolutions within reason.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective stakeholder & team engagement.
Organised and able to manage multiple priorities in fast-paced environments.
Must fully embrace Teamwork, for example, by knowing when to reach out for support, and when to give support, so that team deliverables are achieved, which maintains a vibrant Team ethos.
Strong Passion for learning and adopting new technologies and methodologies.
Desirable Experience (Nice to Haves)
Prior experience leading teams in the Financial Services domain (advantageous but not essential).
AI experience which streamline test activities, resulting in improved product quality and delivery.
Cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure)
CI/CD tooling beyond UDeploy (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab)
Docker-based containerization
Performance or load testing tools (e.g., JMeter, Gatling)
