Job Title: Software Developer
Department: Research Data Services | MedIT | Faculty of Medicine
Compensation Range: $6,438.50 – $9,255.58 CAD Monthly

Job Summary
The Software Developer will design, develop, test, and maintain education and administrative platforms for the Faculty of Medicine. The role collaborates closely with Project and Technical Leads, partners, and stakeholders to deliver secure, reliable, user‑focused applications while ensuring best practices in data privacy, security and development standards.
Responsibilities
- Program, debug, document, and support the software development lifecycle.
- Design, develop, test, maintain, and support platforms and solutions for educational and administrative services.
- Participate in refinement, estimation, and planning; demo features and fixes for stakeholders.
- Contribute to documenting processes, designs, and guidelines; continuous improvement activities.
- Apply and follow appropriate programming/development methodologies and best practices.
- Maintain professional designations and up‑to‑date knowledge of current IT techniques and tools.
Supervision
Works with moderate latitude; receives guidance from senior developers, product leads, and project managers. May manage staff and be responsible for hiring, evaluation, discipline, and termination.
Minimum Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline.
- Minimum of two years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Willingness to respect diverse perspectives, including conflicting views.
- Commitment to enhancing personal awareness, knowledge, and skills related to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with full‑stack development, relational database development, scripting languages, and version control (Git).
- Strong problem‑solving skills; excellent written and verbal communication.
- Ability to seek advice and identify/document processes within area of responsibility.
- Experience in mixed software development and maintenance roles.
- Experience with Linux and Microsoft server environments.
- Experience with web development languages (HTML, CSS, PHP, JavaScript, Java, C#) and frameworks (Laravel, React, Vue.js, Node.js).
- Experience with CI/CD tools (Bamboo, Maven), Agile development (Scrum or Kanban).
