About the Role\ N
We are seeking an experienced Software Developer (Leadership) to join our software engineering team at our Farnborough facility. This is a hands-on technical leadership role where you will support a team of software engineers in the development of software products and solutions, providing guidance, code reviews, and technical mentorship while contributing to the execution of our software engineering strategy.\ N
You will combine deep technical expertise with strong leadership capabilities, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning within the team.\ N
Key Responsibilities\ N
Support a team of software engineers in the development of software products and solutions, providing technical guidance, code reviews, and hands-on support\ N
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define project requirements, ensuring the successful delivery of software projects on time and within scope\ N
Assist in the professional growth and mentorship of team members through regular feedback, coaching, and career development planning\ N
Contribute to the execution of the software engineering strategy, participating in strategic discussions and technology assessments\ N
Manage project tasks and assignments, helping to prioritize and plan work to meet project goals and deadlines\ N
Monitor project timelines, resource allocation, and budgets to ensure efficient project execution\ N
Proactively identify and mitigate project risks, working to resolve issues as they arise\ N
Promote a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning within the team\ N
Participate in code reviews and architectural discussions to maintain code quality and best practices\ N
Support the recruitment and onboarding of new team members\ N
Essential Qualifications\ N
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and professional experience)\ N
Minimum 6+ years of relevant work experience in software engineering and development\ N
Minimum 2+ years of experience in a similar technical leadership or mentoring role\ N
Proficiency in C/C++ programming with hands-on experience in production environments\ N
Strong proficiency in Linux operating systems (system administration, kernel knowledge, or application development)\ N
Proficiency in Python programming with experience in real-world projects\ N
Strong programming and debugging skills across multiple languages\ N
Demonstrated experience with software development methodologies and best practices (e.G., Agile, Scrum, CI/CD)\ N
Proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop team members\ N
Strong communication and teamwork skills\ N
Excellent organizational and time management skills\ N
Willingness to learn and grow in a technical leadership role\ N
Desirable Qualifications\ N
Advanced degree (Master's) in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field\ N
Relevantcertifications or training (e.G., Agile/Scrum Master, cloud certifications)\ N
Experience with version control systems (Git, SVN)\ N
Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices\ N
Experience with software architecture and design patterns\ N
Knowledge of security best practices and secure coding principles\ N
Experience with embedded systems or systems programming\ N
\ NSecurity Clearance\ NUK Security Clearance(SC) eligibility is mandatory for this role.\ N
