Senior SQL Server Database Administrator
Location: Remote
POSITION SUMMARY
Client is seeking a highly skilled SQL Server Database Administrator to manage, optimize, and modernize enterprise SQL Server environments. The ideal candidate will support migration initiatives, operational database administration, performance optimization, and database reliability programs while enabling internal teams to focus on strategic cloud and automation initiatives.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Administer and support enterprise SQL Server environments.
- Lead SQL Server 2016 and 2017 migration activities.
- Manage database backups, recovery, high availability, and disaster recovery solutions.
- Monitor database performance and implement tuning recommendations.
- Provide production support and troubleshooting for critical database platforms.
- Optimize queries, indexing strategies, and database configurations.
- Support virtualization and VMware-based database environments.
- Create operational documentation and knowledge-transfer materials.
- Collaborate with development and infrastructure teams on database initiatives.
- Identify automation opportunities and improve operational efficiency.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- 7+ years of SQL Server DBA experience.
- Advanced T-SQL expertise.
- 5+ years of experience with:
- Performance tuning and optimization
- Backup and recovery
- High Availability and Disaster Recovery
- Windows Server Administration
- Active Directory
- Experience managing large-scale production databases.
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
- Experience supporting mission-critical environments.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- SQL Server migration experience.
- VMware Cloud (VMC) experience.
- AWS database administration exposure.
- Oracle experience.
- Automation and scripting expertise (PowerShell, Python, Terraform).
- Financial services industry experience.
