Tech Lead / Lead Backend Developer (Node.js) – 8–15 Years Experience | Hybrid

The business operates high‑volume, customer‑facing platforms and continues to invest heavily in modernising its core technology landscape. You will be joining a stable environment with long‑term projects, complex systems, and strong technical leadership.
About the Role
This is a Tech Lead focusing on backend engineering for enterprise‑scale platforms . You will work on the enhancement of transactional and customer‑facing systems , supporting new business logic, system upgrades, and long‑term platform evolution.
The role remains highly hands‑on , while also taking ownership of technical leadership, delivery quality, and cross‑team collaboration . You will work closely with other tech leads, product and business stakeholders, and distributed development teams in a complex enterprise environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead hands‑on backend development using Node.js for large‑scale enterprise applications
- Design, build, and enhance transactional and customer‑facing systems
- Collaborate with other technical leads to align on architecture, standards, and delivery
- Work on cloud‑based deployments and support production environments
- Contribute to and oversee CI/CD pipelines and deployment processes
- Perform code reviews, identify gaps, and act as a quality gatekeeper
- Monitor deployments and ensure system stability and performance
- Work closely with product managers, business users, and offshore teams
- Support long‑term platform upgrades and multi‑year technology roadmaps
Requirements
- 8–15 years of backend development experience
- Strong hands‑on experience with Node.js (5+ years preferred)
- Solid experience working in large, complex enterprise systems
- Cloud experience with AWS and/or Azure
- Strong understanding of backend architecture and system integration
- Excellent verbal and written English communication skills
- Proven ability to collaborate across technical and non‑technical teams
Good to Have
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation
- Exposure to Infrastructure as Code (e.g. Terraform)
- Experience with message queues or event‑driven systems (e.g. Kafka)
- Background in transactional, ticketing, retail, or customer‑facing platforms
- Experience working with offshore development teams
