The Job!
Our ideal candidate has strong technical skills, a proactive approach, and is a problem solver at heart. They enjoy working independently but can also collaborate and communicate effectively with team members and clients. Your responsibilities will include:
- Custom development: Build bespoke WordPress themes and plugins from scratch, or modify existing ones to meet requirements.
- Front-end and back-end integration: Develop responsive, pixel-perfect user interfaces based on Figma designs.
- Performance and security: Optimize website speed, scalability, and security, implementing best practices for database management and code structure.
- API and third-party integration: Integrate third-party tools, services, and APIs into the WordPress environment.
- Collaboration: Work with designers, project managers, and SEO specialists to deliver cohesive, optimized solutions.
What you bring to the job
You come with a strong portfolio showcasing custom themes and plugins, as well as excellent communication and team collaboration skills. You also come with:
- Proven experience as a WordPress Developer (3-5+ years of experience).
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
- Deep understanding of the WordPress CMS and core architecture and Elementor.
- Proficiency in popular WordPress pagebuilders. React (for Gutenberg development), jQuery, and modern CSS frameworks like Bootstrap/Tailwind are preferred but not required.
- Experience with Git version control, command line, and Docker for development environments is preferred but not required.
- Knowledge of SEO best practices, accessibility standards, and web performance optimization.
- Agency experience is preferred, though not required
Expected Compensation: CAD $50.00 - $64.00 per hour
