Position Summary SMX is seeking a Lead Java Programmer to support development, maintenance, modernization, and production support of a mission-critical IRS enterprise application. The role focuses on Java/Spring development, application enhancements, security remediation, release management, and production issue resolution. Key Responsibilities Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain Java-based applications. Support enhancements, defect resolution, modernization, and maintenance releases. Participate in requirements gathering, Agile development, sprint planning, and release activities. Troubleshoot production issues and optimize application performance. Develop and support SQL Server integrations, stored procedures, and data access logic. Maintain technical documentation, JIRA stories, and Confluence artifacts. Support CI/CD processes, configuration management, security remediation, and Section 508 compliance. Collaborate with business users, developers, testers, and government stakeholders. Required Qualifications 5-10 years of Java development experience. Strong expertise with Java, Spring Framework, Spring Boot, Spring Security, Hibernate, Bootstrap, and jQuery. Experience with SQL Server, stored procedures, and application/database integration. Experience with Agile methodologies, JIRA, Confluence, CI/CD, and production support. Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills. Preferred Qualifications Experience modernizing Java/Spring applications. OpenShift, Kubernetes, AWS, or Azure experience. Familiarity with Splunk, Business Objects, Databricks, and analytics/reporting tools. Experience supporting FISMA compliance, vulnerability remediation, audits, and accessibility requirements. Prior IRS, Treasury, or federal government experience.
