About the Role
Join a major financial services client on the rebuild of a core payment and statement reporting platform. The programme is part migration from legacy systems and part greenfield, adding new components and functionality onto a modern Java stack. Two seats are open: one autonomous senior engineer and one lead-level engineer who can guide and mentor.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop and maintain enterprise-grade applications using Java 17+ and Spring Boot 3+.
Build and support large-scale batch processing solutions using Spring Batch 5+.
Design RESTful APIs (JSON) and integrate with internal and external systems.
Analyse, troubleshoot and resolve production issues, ensuring stability and performance.
Participate in architecture discussions, code reviews and technical decision-making.
Work with Oracle databases, Spring Data JPA and Apache Kafka.
Collaborate with architects, QA and DevOps across the full lifecycle.
Mentor junior developers and contribute to knowledge sharing (lead profile).
Must-Have Skills
8 to 12 years hands-on Java development.
Strong expertise in Java 17+.
Extensive Spring Boot 3+ and Spring Data JPA 3+.
Strong Spring Batch 5+ for batch processing and scheduling.
RESTful API development, SQL and Oracle databases.
Git, Apache Kafka 3+, Maven 3+, JUnit 5 + Mockito 5+.
Solid OO design and design patterns.
Nice-to-Have
Financial messaging standards (CODA, CAMT, MT).
OpenShift / Kubernetes, Docker, CI/CD (Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions).
MapStruct, Lombok, SonarQube, OWASP Dependency Check.
Prometheus / Grafana, Amazon S3.
Frontend (TypeScript, Node.js) and AI-assisted tools (Copilot).
