You will evaluate our existing build and deployment ecosystem, identify bottlenecks and opportunities for improvement, and engineer solutions that make software delivery faster, more reliable, more standardized, easier to troubleshoot, and safer for development teams.You will work extensively with our Jenkins-based CI/CD platform, Groovy shared libraries, GitHub workflows, AWS environments, infrastructure as code, automated testing, code-quality tooling, and deployment automation. We are looking for someone who can do more than maintain pipelines—you should be able to understand how our current delivery process works, challenge what can be improved, and build reusable, maintainable solutions that move our CI/CD capabilities forward.You should be comfortable developing across the entire software delivery lifecycle from code commit through build, test, artifact creation, deployment, validation, and rollback, while partnering closely with Software Engineering and QA teams.You should also be a strong communicator who collaborates well in a distributed environment and is comfortable partnering across engineering, QA, SRE, security, support, and product teams. No visa sponsorship is available.What Your Day Will Look LikeDevOps, CI/CD and Developer EnablementDesign, develop, and improve Jenkins shared libraries, Jenkins files, and CI/CD pipelines using GroovyAssess and optimize build, test, release, and deployment workflows for speed, reliability, scalability, and developer experienceCreate reusable pipeline components and standardized delivery patterns that reduce duplication, manual effort, and operational riskDevelop and apply software engineering practices including source control, code review, automated testing, documentation, and maintainability when developing CI/CD tooling, automation, shared libraries, and reusable componentsImprove build performance through better pipeline architecture, parallelization, caching, dependency management, and artifact managementStrengthen deployments through automated testing, quality gates, validation, health checks, environment promotion, and rollback capabilitiesPartner with development and QA teams to improve how applications are built, tested, packaged, versioned, and deployedModernize CI/CD practices and use delivery metrics to identify bottlenecks and measure improvementLead technical improvements that modernize engineering tools and practices, reduce manual effort and operational risk, and improve developer productivity and deployment confidenceSupport Carnegie Learning's evolution toward platform engineering and developer self-service, leveraging Cortex.io to improve service ownership, standards, and engineering insightsDevOps and Cloud Engineering Build and manage secure, scalable AWS infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code, primarily CloudFormationSupport containerized application deployments using Docker and AWS ECS/FargateDevelop code, scripts, tools, APIs, and reusable components that automate engineering and operational workflowsTroubleshoot complex issues across application code, builds, CI/CD pipelines, cloud infrastructure, networking, and configurationIdentify root causes and implement sustainable solutions rather than short-term workaroundsModernize legacy tooling and processes where it improves software delivery, reliability, or developer productivityDeployment and Operational Readiness Use Splunk, New Relic, and AWS CloudWatch to validate deployments and troubleshoot application, infrastructure, and pipeline issuesImprove deployment monitoring, alerting, rollback, and post-deployment validationParticipate in incident response and root cause analysis when build, release, deployment, or infrastructure issues contribute to production problemsSupport production reliability through performance monitoring, capacity awareness, and improvements related to software delivery and infrastructureTurn recurring delivery and operational issues into automated, corrective, or preventative improvementsCollaboration and OwnershipLead CI/CD and DevOps improvements across engineering teamsPartner closely with Software Engineering, QA, SRE, Security, and ArchitectureProvide technical guidance, share knowledge, and help teams adopt effective CI/CD, DevOps, cloud, and software delivery practicesInfluence technical decisions and engineering standards across teams through practical recommendations, reusable patterns, and hands-on implementationEstablish clear standards, documentation, reusable examples, and operational runbooksTake ownership of complex technical problems from investigation through implementation and validationContribute to a culture of teamwork, accountability, continuous improvement, and customer focusOn-call on a monthly rotating basis; after-hours work is limited but occasionally required. What Should Be In Your BookbagYou bring 7+ years of experience in DevOps, CI/CD engineering, software engineering, platform engineering, or cloud engineering, along with strong communication skills and the ability to independently solve complex technical problems.Must be highly experienced in:Jenkins, Groovy, and CI/CD engineering — including Jenkins files, shared libraries, reusable pipeline components, build agents, and pipeline troubleshootingSoftware delivery engineering — including build systems, automated testing, artifact management, versioning, deployment, validation, rollback, and improving delivery speed and reliabilityNeeds solid experience in:AWS and Infrastructure as Code — particularly CloudFormation or TerraformContainers and cloud-native deployments — including Docker and platforms such as AWS ECS/FargateGit/GitHub and troubleshooting across application code, builds, CI/CD pipelines, cloud infrastructure, networking, configuration, and deployment environmentsHelpful or preferred:Experience with observability and deployment-validation platforms, GitHub Actions, code-quality and DevSecOps tooling, platform engineering/developer self-service, DORA or engineering productivity metrics, and database troubleshooting What Gives Us PurposeOthers teach what; we teach why.
